Rebekah Reports

Rebekah Hood

Lights. Camera. Action...

Simple version: I am a broadcast journalist born and raised in the great state of Texas who has ambitious dreams.

Don't we all?

Too simple? Try this:
Journalism has been my passion since my junior year of high school when I anchored the televised morning announcements. Sure, I was in braces and flip-flops, but something "sparked" inside of me. I knew then journalism would be my future.

I attended college at Texas Christian University, specifically the Schieffer School of Journalism. I graduated in May 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in History.

Ask anyone who knew me at TCU where the most likely place to find me was and they would probably respond, "the newsroom!" During my time at TCU I worked as the news director for TCU News Now, the university's cable news channel. As News Director I initiated the creation and launch of a new Web site for the channel and then anchored a LIVE, streaming Web cast during the 2008 Presidential Election on that Web site. I also hustled and bustled around as the TCU reporter for UWIREvideo.com (formerly Palestra.net), an Online college news network affiliated with FOX News Channel. When I was not reporting (Ha! Yeah right.) I was active on the executive board of my sorority, Chi Omega.

TCU gave me the chance to cultivate my journalistic skills and love and talent for networking. I was privileged to be surrounded by, interview, and befriend journalism greats: Bob Schieffer, Roger Mudd, Robert Novak, Al Neuharth, and René Syler. I was also honored to meet and cover stories on: Chelsea Clinton, Gov. Mike Huckabee, Gov. Jeb Bush, Sen. Bill Bradley, T. Boone Pickens, and actress Sophia Bush.

One of the high points of my life thus far is my internship at FOX News Channel in New York City for The FOX Report with Shepard Smith.  Not only did I assist with the production of a No. 1 cable newscast, but I witnessed the Channel's transformation in to a completely digital newsroom, and participated in the creation of the FOX News Channel intern Web site. I learned so much while at FOX, but most importantly that journalism and what it takes to make it in this business is who I am

I am dedicated to discovering what makes each story unique. I am determined to ethically uncover the truthful facts. I am curious, vivacious, dependable, and organized.

I am knowledgeable and trained to report for various mediums in order to maximize one's coverage. I have experience shooting, writing, editing, producing, reporting, and anchoring. I am a Web site creator, an avid blogger, a Facebook veteran, and a Twitter master. Most importantly I am a journalist. Even better, I am a journalist with a personality.

I have big dreams that I am not afraid to conquer.

Look around and discover the real Rebekah.
